Final 5 Crysis Images

Below are the 5 Images for Exp2. They highlight the paths taken to reach the monument, the concept of the monument ant the environment surrounding it. The complexity of the monument is further brought to attention by the complexity of the environment, and the rocky mountain that makes up the surrounding. The environment represents the differing experiences a student can feel when interacting with the monument, as the dark rocky mountains are a stark contrast to the soft haven of forest before it. This conveys to the monument as students witness a simplistic view when on the top flat level, and a web of shapes from the bottom flat level.

Unique Paths to Monument

ARCHITECTS

The below pathway was created for students studying architecture. The main idea behind it is both professional and inspirational, as they would grow to learn that the surroundings play a major role in the development of a building, as well as a long scenic route to inspire creativity and vividness.

Architectural-Computing

Computing students would benefit less from elongated scenic travel, so their path is a more direct approach to the monument. Halfway through their travel they would meet up with Architecture students (as depicted by the same pathway up the slope) as both of their careers will be correlated.

Engineering

Students of engineering would appreciate the physical aspect of the surroundings, and the complexity that goes into creating such environments. They will travel through a tunnel for further career inspirations.

Final Exp2 - Crysis (EXTRA IMAGES)

An outline of some extra images captured from the environment and my monument.

Sketchup Concept

My sketchup concept was based upon the idea that the crysis environment will play an important key role in the presentation of the monument. This will be highlighted by the obvious fact that students will be changing their viewing perspective constantly, and interacting with the monument consistently. That is why the concepts of viewing-angle being directly proportional to the experience, and disparaging shapes convey to a harmony was ideal for the monument.

The textures chosen will represent the transformation from light to dark in the most obvious ways, while conveying to the concept of a different experience being produced by a different position.

The final texture design was chosen as to not take away from the experience of the monument. The patterns chosen previously for the floor drew attention away from the overall complexity of the object, and the environment to come. They still, however, manage to convey the differing degrees of the textures, and add to the concept of disparaging shapes by creating new focal points that did not exist prior.

CONCEPT MASH-UPS

Steven Holls concept of change in viewing angle being directly proportional to change in experience (top right) is reiterated by the above axonometric mash, it gives the viewer the idea of space from one reference and the idea of compactness through another. This concept is joined with his other concept of disparaging shapes conveying to a state of harmony (top-left), as together they create a fascinating object with differing facade's, through the use of irregular shapes.

Kisho Kurokawas concept of compactness through simplification (top-left) is merged with his concept of technology as a expansion of humanity (top-right), as the mash up conveys a sense of growth through simplicity.

Steven Holls concept of space conceived through phenomenology (top-left) is joined by Kisho Kurokawa's idea of fusion between similar beings(top-right).

Artists and their Concepts

Kisho Kurokawa

- Creates fusion between identical beings, giving an overall identity to a collation of minute beings.
- Compactness being driven by simplification rather than the use of overburdening material.
- Highlights the key concept to our survival and refer's it to technology, by showing interrelation between the expansion/evolution of humanity to technology.

Steven Holl

- The change in viewing angle is directly proportional to the change in the experience of the viewer, with minute details being hidden away for the perfect angle.
- Space conceived through phenomenology, as this time it is the experience of viewing the building/monument by being placed directly within it, to allow its location and surroundings to give guidance to its overall complexity.
- Disparaging shapes conveying to a harmony, as they individually are regarded as unappealing, but together create wonderment.
